Baltic Seaplane is a recognized aviation company (AOC D-SH 004) and an approved training organization (DE.SH.004.ATO) under the supervision of the Schleswig-Holstein Aviation Authority as well as a flight school under the Thai Aviation Authority (CAAT.FTO-0036) based in Germany since 2015 as successor to Clipper Aviation.

The training is carried out according to European standards (EASA) in a structured and controlled training environment.

The training program is part of a permanent cooperation between Baltic Seaplane in Germany and Thai Seaplane in Thailand.
Thai Seaplane is the exclusive contact for pilots in Thailand and accompanies the entire preparation process.

The seaplane training is deliberately divided into two steps:
- Basics and open water training in Germany
- Type Training SET (Sea) C208 Caravan in Thailand
This concept enables:

- a controlled transition to larger aircraft

Training aircraft
The training deliberately begins on the Cessna 172 Amphibian. This aircraft enables:
- Precise and direct handling
- Lower training costs
- Direct feedback on control movements
- a quicker understanding of handling on the water
It is crucial to learn the basics properly, especially in seaplane flying. This makes the later transition to larger aircraft such as the Caravan more controlled and safer.
Step by step to a seaplane license
TRAINING PROGRAM
Phase 1 - SEP (Sea) in Germany
- 8 flight hours + 1 h test flight
- Training on protected waters
- Focus on safe foundations
- Degree: EASA SEP (Sea)
Phase 2 - Open water training
- Training on the Baltic Sea
- Real wind and wave conditions
- Decision-making in the operational environment
- Goal: safe operation in open water
Phase 3 - SET (Sea) in Thailand
- Training on the Cessna Caravan 208
- Execution by Baltic Seaplane
- Transition to commercial use
